MUFFINS!WATERMELON JUICE!CUTTING OFF MY FINGERS AND THE BAKESALE THAT WASN'T!!!

monster.
monster-esque Spelt Cinnamon Fig Muffin.
these muffins were fantastic.lot's of fried calimyrna figs, brown sugar, and cinnamon.probably really spectacular for yr digestive system.figs are my number 4 favourite food.because you care.
oh,and i've been kind of obsessed with baking muffins.like instead of anything else.yay for muffs!

Banana-Oatmeal-Chocolate Chunk.
my old standy-by.my go-to muffin.there's probably even coconut and some nuts in there somewhere.

HUGE Zucchini Spelt(Mini Chocolate Chip)Muffins from Vegan Brunch.
possibly perfect in every way!!!
half with flame raisins and half with mini chocolate chips-and they were soooo fantastic.the spices were perfect, the flax seed gave them a great chewiness, and they were sweet enough.really, everybody should make these.

yuriko and i ate one(she had raisin so she could share with yurei) on the pier at canada place, and then a thunderstorm started!

Bran.
made these after having amazing bran muffins from Black Sheep Bakery whilst in Portland last month.

and another from VB...

Coffee Chip Muffins.
I made these during testing, but they were better this time...because i used coffee candy lentils and these:

peanut buttered.zedohmygod.

and funnily enough, the day i made these,i went out for 4 coffees.so i'll just inject some coffee pictures here:

clover and macchito @ 49th parallel

double espresso @ wicked cafe(intelligentsia!)

soy macchiato @ jj bean, courtesy of mr.robert csar.

that's all for that day,BUT i've had a few more pretty ones lately:

soy macchiatos @ jj bean on main street

next...

Toasted Coconut Mango Muffins from Vegan Brunch.
i haven't made these since testing, but i love how they're not too sweet and have a really hearty chew from the toasted coconut.

with mango jam and peanut butter.

speaking of mangoes...

Mango Blueberry Muffins.
opting for fresh mango over dried like in the toasted coconut ones.mango is so fantastic.

fish in the sea
this picture reminds me of fish swimming in a bowl.

also roundish, orange ish and full of beta carotene...

Pumpkin Bran Muffins.
awesome.I love bran muffins.but they're not as good as the best pumpkin muffins from vegan with a vengeance.because those really are the best.

speaking of them...

the BEST Pumpkin Muffins from Vegan with a Vengeance.
i made those, too.just last night.those were actually the first isa recipe i ever made.i guess they made a good impression of her...since they're only like...the best.

peanut butter & co cinnamon raisin swirl peanut butter-ed.

sorry for so many pictures...but check out that lid!

peanut butter & co might maple peanut butter-ed.

so...yr may be wondering how the bakesale was, right?
well,i decided to make watermelon juice in the juicer i've used 4 times now in the 2 years it was given to me,and cut of the tips of 3 of my fingers!so i couldn't bake.i thought i wouldn't be able to ever draw again,so i contemplated suicide, but then the ambulance got to my house and i was told it would be fine, and now it is,but still really gross.i'm baking and drawing again, but some times in immense pain.

hi.part of my finger is in there!
finger juice!!!

Oh man, Evan, delicious as always!! Except for your poor, poor fingers. How is the healing going? My trip to Vancouver was postponed due to lack of funds and an illness on my thesis adviser's part...but if you are still in Vancouver until the end of August I would still really love to order some goodies for you. Maybe something for my boyfriend's birthday on the 20th? Let me know if you're around, and happy healing!

Until I got to the fingers, I was thinking this was one of the best posts ever....but then tragedy struck. Your hand looks awful! So glad it's going to heal though.

Ugh! Glad your finger trauma isn't going to leave permanent damage, that would've been horrible.

But all the muffins look great! If I had to choose, I'd choose the plain old bran. It just looks so bran-y and good.

Cutting off the tips of your fingers is terrible! I did it to my pinkie, but I never went to the doctor. The area healed, but it seems like some of the nerves never regenerated. Since it's my basically useless pinkie, it isn't much of a problem.

Hope you heal quickly!!

Your caffeine intake is as epic as this post! Loving your muffs! How are the fingers healing?

Somehow I knew that, with all your graphic baked goods photos, that graphic chopped finger photos were inevitable. I'm so sorry for your poor paw and hope it heals more quickly than anyone can imagine!

Gnarly post-finger slicing photos. I can sort of feel for you as I am not very lucky with knives in the kitchen. At least once a week I slice my finger while trying to chop some sort of something.

As for your baked goods...I WANT SOME, PRONTO! Everything looks 100% delicious. If only I could come to those awesome vegan bake sales of yours. But, living in Indiana sucks. Poo. At least I can salivate over your yummy goodness on the computer. :)

Wow... I thought I'd had some scary kitchen experiences, but.... man. Hope it's healing well.

But hey, Sonic Youth! Sweet! To see them, I'd slice off several fingers. Not my own, though.

BTW, those are some awesome, tasty-looking top-on-steroids muffins there.

You are muffin OBSESSED! I can't believe you showed your bloody fingers on a food blog!

Almost two weeks later: How are your fingers???

Eileen said...

evan, I did the same thing and cut off the tip of my finger (although only one in my case) a couple years ago. it will be ok! it looks like you cut about as much as I did, and I had the same cellulose mesh over the tip of my finger and everything. you will regain your dexterity! really. I did, and with only a pad of scar about 1/3 the size of the initial cut left. it peels very occasionally (and did more at first) but is now mostly indistinguishable in terms of action, just a little more stiff than the rest of the skin. also, did the hospital list it as a "partial amputation"? mine did. HA. sort of.

Your fingers, your fingers! You poor thing! Please heal quickly :)
I am loving those muffins! How do you get the tops so huge - you just pile the muffin tins extra full??? (seriously, please message me back your secret...)

And I love this post more than words can say...look at all that darn fine espresso! That shot from Wicked looks incredible! And I love Clover-ed coffee. I don't get macchiatos enough...I'm giving the traditional cappuccinos all my attention. :)
