last week i didn't have any ice cream, but i did have a week of thinking of the perfect thing to do with the s'mores, which was of course to get s'mores sundaes at lula's sweet apothecary.3 times in one weekend.

Vegan MoFo Day#24-Peanut Butter Danishes!PB&J Danish Made By Me!

pb&j danishes!

DSCF7508
enjoyed the next morning by theresa and i at stumptown.we split the last pb&j one.which was actually the last of all the danishes.
here it is with a cappuccino.

DSCF7515

DSCF7517

and non pb&j danishes-here we have a strawberry danish.

orange danish.

wild blueberry danish.

pile of mixed danishes.

it was really fun to make and share with friends from school and lula's and everywhere.
but the pb&j danish was a pretty brilliant and delicious idea.
i mean-it's like a pb&j,but not on bread,rather flaky,buttery pastry.c'mon.million dollar idea.
and after making danishes so much in vancouver,i swore id be sick of them and never eat one again-i didn't even want to eat one,and hadn't had a danish in a while before moving.but the pb&j ones changed that.yum.

Vegan MoFo Day#23-Peanut Butter and Jelly Sammich and 49th Parallel Espresso!

DSCF8383

DSCF8385
pb&j and soy cortado made with 49th parallel epic espresso,el beit, brooklyn.

how's about a silly product review?!
here we have a peanut butter and jelly sammich on amy's bread fro elbeit,a coffee shop,in williamsburg.
they serve 49th parallel coffee-roasted in vancouver, supplier to caffe artigiano, basically the best coffee roasters in vancouver.ben and i,when i volunteered at,and he worked for earthsave canada, would go to almost everyday.
it's an amazing cafe,too,try the siphon coffee,even though it's $7.
BUT we're not in vancouver,we're in new york,nd we're talking about peanut butter, too.
anyways,i felt ridiculous buying a pb&j but i mean, when else would i enjoy the novelty of feeling at home in vancouver with espresso and ordering a pb&j?so i got it.grape jelly, crunchy peanut butter, sourdough bread i'm pretty sure,so it was interesting, really good,i mean, its kinna hard to eff up a pb&j.

DSCF8381
the cortado was good too.espresso was really chocolate-y,bittersweet,more of a cocoa nib essence.better than the last time i visited.but,i mean, didn't compare to the shop in vancouver.i rarely talk about how great things are in vancouver,i mean,it's not my favourite place, but the coffee from 49th parallel was a lot better than at el beit.not bad, though.

Vegan MoFo Day#22-Peanut Butter Parsinp Rolls

peanut butter-roasted parsnip roll-ups
peanut butter parsnip roll.

i really love parsnips.i can thank isa and jess for turning me onto them last january/february when i was in portland for quite a few weeks.they're great steamed, spicier raw,but roasted, they're even better.maybe,depends.
roasted though, they do get really sweet.and,as you know,i love carrots and peanut butter and squash and peanut butter,so why not love another sweet root and peanut butter?

peanut buttered roasted parsnip

this isn't a recipe or anything,i mean,it's just parsnips that are all limp and carmelized, roasted with some squash, spread with peanut butter and rolled up.i stuck some carrot chunks/sticks in the middle of a few for the crunch factor.totally fun!

look,squash!

like last weeks thanksgiving sammich, sans bread.

okay,so aren't you glad i stopped posting all this decadent, sugary, peanut buttery porn and we're all about healthy veggies?!

Vegan MoFo Day#21-Peanut Butter & Fresh Figs

fresh figs are amazing.even without peanut butter.they're definitely my second favourite fruit, after bananas.
they're SO sweet, and fruity, and special, and juicy, and special again because they're so delicate, expensive, and only available for a limited amount of time.but when you get them, and they have that little syrup running out of the top,and are super plump and juicy...it's like heaven.
SO,of course, they're a natural partner for peanut butter.eating fresh figs spread or dipped in straight peanut butter is like taking a spoon full of peanut butter and jam and sticking it in yr mouth.but more exotic, and with seeds.
please try it.
i love dried figs, with peanut butter aswell, but that's s different story for another post.

a fresh fig.

figs i got for free last thursday morning as part of some vitamin campaign

Vegan MoFo Day#20-Peanut Butter and Banana Bread pt.2-Peanut Butter Banana Chocolate Chip Sammiches & PB&J on Banana Bread

peanut butter and banana on chocolate chip banana bread sammich

peanut butter and banana chocolate chip sammich on banana bread.

well, yeah.basically a pb&b on that banana bread i made, but the chocolate chip part.the chips that fell off went into the sammich.
million dollar delicious idea,if i say so myself.really,i don't need to explain.peanut butter and banana.banana bread.chocolate.needs a nice glass of (non-dairy)milk.mmm.

peanut butter and banana on chocolate chip banana bread sammich

pb&j on banana bread
pb&j on banana bread sammich.

and if that's too much banana for you,why not try a pb&j on banana bread?strawberry jam?gawd.
or both, that would be nice.pb&j&b on banana bread...
anything specific anybody else likes to do with banana bread?(besides 'eat it',duh...)

Vegan MoFo Day#19-Peanut Butter and I Officially Make the Best Banana Bread Ever and More Stumptown Coffee

i don't even know how to drink a latte...

peanut butter-ed banana bread and a soy latte.
eaten at stumptown coffee,in the lobby of the ace hotel.
baked by me.

here is a story.
i've been going to the stumptown in the lobby of the ace hotel just about every single day(minus 2 or 3) for the past 2 weeks now.it started with a really incredible ethiopian yirgachaffe which tasted like peach tea as it cooled, and continued by consistently getting amazing,molasses-y shots of espresso.
i know that i can bake,so baked goods aren't really that huge of a deal to me when i see them.i know i could make it myself and maybe better, blah blah blah,no big deal.but in the pastry case there, they have plain chunks of banana bread baked in a bundt pan,and seeing it every day made me start REALLY craving banana bread.plain, old banana bread.ridiculous, right?it's so easy, simple,i used to make banana bread in my sleep.but i don't have an oven, and i guess disance makes the heart grow fonder, and i really really wanted banana bread.
and then i kinna wanted it with coffee.so i baked some at a friends house.same one i've made a million times, with a million variations, for my bakesales,as muffins, etc.and i brought it with me to the cafe, and used my filled up stampcard for a free drink, and figured i'd get something expensive, even if i don't even know how to drink a latte, and it was fantastic, and now all can be right with the world.
oh,and i ate it,in my favourite way...with peanut butter,of course.
