or in this case,"whizzers",the vegan version of smarties,which,if yr from the states probably think smarties are those nasty little chalky candies,but in canada,they're basically m&ms.but better.except for that i take that back,because peanut m&ms were the best.but smarties,yes.

as a child,one one my favourite variations on pb&j was adding smarties.a girl at school showed me.probably the same one who ate plain marshmallows for snack at recess.which i would still think is gross and weird,i mean who eats marshmallows?except now i'm vegan and 'can't' have normal marshmallows,so i eat marshmallows plain all the time and love it.besides,no kids in kindergarten are eating toasted coconut marshmallows.

anyways,it's a great sammich.use candy lentils pr whatever vegan smarties/m&ms you have-the best part is the crunch from the candy shell and the chocolate and jam mixing.oooh.

Vegan MoFo Day#17-Peanut Butter and Pepper Sammich...Peanut Butter Pizza Sammich?!

roasted red pepper,that is!

with sundried tomatoes,crunchy peanut butter,and some kale,for more crunch,and to balance out the intensity and acidity

of the roasted red peppers and sundried tomatoes.

this was amazing.it tasted like pizza,but with peanut butter.

just like the peanut butter,pickle and purple carrot sammich,it has the same salty/sweet and vinegar-y elements which reallly

do bode amazing well with peanut butter!try it!

oh,and the onion-y foccaccia only added to the pizza element.

this sammich was super juicy,too.

Vegan MoFo Day#16-Peanut Butter Product Review-a Few Energy Bars

okay,so this is a peanut butter clif builder bar.they don't sell the builder bars in canada,and so i was pretty excited to try them because even though i'm not a fan of regular clif/luna bars(i know,like the whole entire rest of the world is...w/e...)i had heard SO many good things about these and how they "tasted like a candy bar" and were "WAY better than clif bars" and blah blah blah.

so i broke down and bought one(it was $2.29!geze)and honestly,i don't see what the hype was whatsoever.

yeah,it was okay,but all clif/luna bars have that weird taste that i can't get past.yeah,there was peanut butter,and yeah there was chocolate,but there's that like protein-powder/supplement aftertaste/undertone that i can't get past or down with.

i remember the first time i ever had a clif bar at all was at camp in 2005 and we planned out snacks and they were an option,so i ate those everyday,the peanut butter(crunchy or something?)ones,and yeah,thought they were just okay.same weird oaty supplement-y taste.i told the woman who did all the meal planning this when we talked about food and she,who was super active and ate a lot and all that said "i know what you mean,i don't understand the whole 'powerbar' thing.honestly,when i'm active or workout,i think the best fuel/snack is just a good ol' pb&j.it's just as easy..."and y'know what,that's exactly how i feel,a pb&j is a lot more gratifying and satisfying.

i ended up crushing it up and putting it in a bowl of cereal,then it was nice,i guess because of the cereal,almond milk,and

everything else.

and i guess if you need that something 'extra',you can just make a pb&j and granola...

i'm not really into lara bars either,i mean,i love all the ingredients,but would rather just eat them whole or by themselves or in a different war than mashed up,but into a bar,and stuck with an expensive price tag.

this actually tasted like a pb&j though.i mean,it was a bit dry,but with a glass of almond milk,it was yummy.i approve,and i guess,it's probably the only lara bar i'd buy again if i had to buy one.

made me really crave medjool dates,though,an old favourite.

Vegan MoFo Day#15-Peanut Butter Ice Cream Wars at Lula's and In My Heart...

so about exactly 11 months ago i made my first trip to lula's sweet apothecary and had,what i claimed to be,the best ice cream i've ever had in my life-yes,better than foster freeze's french vanilla softserve,better than ben and jerry's cookie dough or the banana one,or the one with the brownies and almonds,yes,just the best ice cream ever-lula's peanut butter fudge.

perfectly salty and sweet,incredibly peanut butter-y,with like hot fudge swirls in it,but it was frozen hot fudge,and zedohmygawd,it's what made me keep going back to this place so freakin' much.and of course,coming back to nyc,i get to have it all the time,and it's only improved.

though of course,not there's an issue...it may have met it's match...

pb&j ice cream.

seriously.the same crazy good peanut butter ice cream,but with strawberry jam.and if yr kittee,jess,or really any vegan i knew in 2007,you know how i FEEL about strawberry jam...

so,basically,i'm still undecided.fun.

i'll make up my mind soon enough,when i can try them together in a bowl sometime.

temporary solution?

eat ice cream and pray that you get there on a day when they're both in stock.sometimes life is just SO hard...

i mean,it DID happen ONCE...

but i was overwhelmed and can't remember.sigh.

Vegan MoFo Day#13-Peanut Butter S'mores and Proof that Rachael Ray DOES Have Good Taste and Is The Genius I Think She Is...

Sweet and Sara Peanut Butter S'mores.

so,you probably know that i'm a pretty big sweet and sara vegan marshmallow fan, as well as a huge fan of rachael ray, despite so many vegans hating her. once i even arranged for an internet friend to mail me a sample size bottle of her own evoo.

anyways, did you see?yesterday on her show, not just the classic s'mores, but the sweet and sara peanut butter s'mores was the "snack of the day".

proof,afterall,that ray ray is a genius with great taste buds.you go rayray!

i wrote about these last year for mofo,and even took pictures in a photobooth eating one.they're the best.not just a peanut butter cookie bottom,but the graham cracker AND a thick layer of peanut butter filling/spread.yummo,indeed.

and speaking of sweet and sara,back in june when visiting portland for the let live animal rights conference and just general good times,jess and i tried these:

they're were like fluffy cinnamon toast crunch.phenomenal.

that was also the trip that i made and brought s'mores danishes with some sweet and saras and some dandies.

and with some marshies i had brian pick me up before he visited in may.

oh,and lest we forgot,the s'mores cake i made in march'08 for my little brother's birthday:

Vegan MFo Day#12-Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!Peanut Butter,Apple,Squash & Cranberry Sammich!and an Incredible Pumpkin Milkshake!

so it' canadian thanksgiving,but i'm in new york now,but i guess i celebrated with this peanut butter very thanksgiving-y sammich,

it's squash baked with black pepper,sea salt,onions and cranberries,crunchy peanut butter,honeycrisp apple slices and more of that caramelized onion focaccia bread.

million dollar sammich,you already clearly know how i feel about squash and peanut butter together...

and more seasonal,orange,squashy things...

incendiary Pumpkin Pie Milkshake with Sweet & Sara Ghost Marshmallow.

it was super thick,and pumpkin-y,with bits of graham cracker crust,and really really just perfect.

and the marshmallow was the perfect accompaniment over,say,whipped cream,or something.

sweet and sara should make pumpkin pie s'mores.

oh no!
